Darn it, why is everyone named John Pryor? It’s common to run into a family where they lacked creativity when naming children. Haven’t you found in your family tree a grandma, mother, and child who all share the same name? I was looking at a man named John Pryor in White County, Tennessee and found that there were two of them. Long before the 1850 U.S. census that identified all household members by name and age, John Pryor in 1817 called for the analysis of multiple sources. I’ve written an article for the Tennessee Genealogical Society that attempts to tease apart the identities of these two men.
