The land entries are significant for two reasons. First, they place James in Putnam County, Indiana \u2014 establishing his migration route from Kentucky to Indiana. Second, the 1827 and 1832 purchases show he was acquiring land over time, suggesting he was establishing himself as a permanent resident rather than passing through.
