Have you ever looked in a record or archive only to wonder “What the heck is that doing here?!” When I was looking for a Virginia probate record I spotted several old newspapers. Complete newspaper issues from 1798 were stashed away in the probate file. The newspapers are not in the Library of Congress Chronicling America project nor were they in the Library of Virginia catalog. I’ve indexed the names in these papers and they are in the current issue of the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy.
